Let Kα is kinetic energy of α particle and Kd is the kinetic energy of the daughter nucleus.

Let A be the mass number of mother nucleus then the mass number of the daughter nucleus is A-4.

From the conservation of momentum

KαKd=p2242A-4p2

KαKd=A-44

Kd=4A-4Kα

Q  value =Kα+Kd

50=48+4A-448

2=4A-448

A-4=96

A=100
