Single megaspore developing into the embryo sac
In Angiosperms, single megaspore mother cell undergoes meiosis to form four megaspore of which three degenerates and only one functional megaspore undergoes mitosis to form 7 celled, 8 nucleate embryo sac. This development of embryo sac from single megaspore is called as monosporic development.
