Gravitational potential at any point P due to the solid sphere can be written as,

1 At all points lies inside r<R the sphere is,

VP=-GM2R3(3R2-r2)

(2) On the sphere r=R is, VP=-GMR

3 At any point outside the sphere r>R is,

VP=-GMr
