The above symptoms are related to a condition known as Amoebic dysentery. This is caused by protozoan Entamoebahistolytica. This condition occurs due to consumption of untreated water or uncooked food. Bloody stools are the characteristic symptom of this condition. This is also known as intestinal amoebiasis as it causes encystation of the wall of the intestine. It is treated by metronidazole.
