Glycogen is a branched polymer of glucose monomer. Glucose units are linked together linearly by $\alpha \left(1\to 4\right)$ glycosidic bonds from one glucose to the next whereas the branches are linked to the chains by $\alpha \left(1\to 6\right)$ glycosidic bonds between the first glucose of the branch and a glucose on the main chain.
