a to d is developing follicle, e to f are mature follicles, g is developing corpus luteum. g to i is corpus luteum pituitary hormone-progesterone hormone. Corpus luteum secretes a large amount of progesterone hormone that is essential for the maintenance of the endometrium required for implantation of blastocyst leading to pregnancy. (i) In developing corpus luteum, the level of progesterone hormone is high but the level of estrogen hormone is lower. In regressing corpus luteum, the level of progesterone on the hormone is low but the level of estrogen hormone is high.
