The phase difference between instantaneous value of $I$ and $V$ is
$\Delta \phi=\frac{\pi}{4}-\left(-\frac{\pi}{4}\right)=\frac{\pi}{2}$
Hence, the current leads voltage by $90^{\circ}$
$\Delta \phi=\frac{\pi}{4}-\left(-\frac{\pi}{4}\right)=\frac{\pi}{2}$
