Given,
The least count, l=1 mm
The error in the reading of the first student, l1=l=1 mm
The error in the reading of the second student, l2=l=1 mm
During addition or subtraction of two measurements, the error gets added up.
Hence, the net error becomes, lnet=l1+l2=2 mm
