The correct answer is:
$\mathrm{SCl}_2$
In $\mathrm{SCl}_2$, number of lone pairs on $\mathrm{S}=\frac{6-2(1)}{2}=2$
$\therefore$ Total number of pairs of electrons
$=2$ bonding +2 lone pairs $=4$ pairs
$\therefore$ Total number of electrons in valency shell $=4 \times 2=8$
$\therefore$ Total number of pairs of electrons
$=2$ bonding +2 lone pairs $=4$ pairs
$\therefore$ Total number of electrons in valency shell $=4 \times 2=8$
