The correct answer is: 0.491,0.509

The expression for moles of CHCl3 is given as,

n=mCHCl3MCHCl3=59.75 g119.5 g·mol-1=0.5 mol

The expression for moles of CH2Cl2 is given as,

n=mCH2Cl2MCH2Cl2=21.25 g85 g·mol-1=0.25 mol

The mole fraction of CH2Cl2, is given as:

χCH2Cl2=nCH2Cl2nCH2Cl2+nCHCl3=0.250.25+0.5=13

The mole fraction of CHCl3 in vapour phase is given as:

yCHCl3=pCHCl3p10+p20-p1°x2=200×23 mm Hg200+(415-200)×13=400815 = 0.491

The mole fraction of CH2Cl2 in vapour phase is given as,

yCH2Cl2=pCH2Cl2p10+p20-p10x2 = 1-yCHCl3 = 0.509
