In glycolysis, glucose and fructose are phosphorylated to form glucose-6-phosphate by the activity of enzyme hexokinase and then converted to fructose $\text{1-6}$ biphosphate which splits into $\text{3C}$ PGAL and $\text{DHAP}$. In subsequent steps, these products get oxidized to form $\text{PGA}$ and then $\text{PEP,}$ which at the end produces pyruvic acid, the end product of glycolysis.
