Cyanobacteria are found in freshwater, brackish water, and moist soil. They often form bloom in the polluted water body. Colonies of cyanobacteria are surrounded by gelatinous or mucilaginous sheath due to which they become slippery. They may be unicellular, colonial, or filamentous.
