Apogeotropic means negatively geotropic roots. They are seen in halophytes that grow in oxygen-deficient soil. So the root grows vertically upwards. They are also called pneumatophores. They are seen in Rhizophora, Sonneratia, Heritiera, etc. The Calyptra is a root cap. It is absent in hydrophytes that float on water such as Lemna, Pistia, etc. Velamen is hygroscopic roots found in epiphytes (plants which grow on large trees) such as Vanda. Moniliform roots are beaded roots found in Mimordica, Portulaca, etc.
