Ores which are magnetic in nature can be separated from non-magnetic gangue particles by magnetic separation method. For ex: ores of iron such as haemetite \(\left(\mathrm{Fe}_2 \mathrm{O}_3\right)\), magnetite \(\left(\mathrm{Fe}_3 \mathrm{O}_4\right)\), siderite \(\left(\mathrm{FeCO}_3\right)\) and iron pyrites \(\left(\mathrm{FeS}_2\right)\) being magnetic can be separated from non-magnetic silica and other impurities by magnetic separation method.
