The five-kingdom classification was proposed by RH Whittaker in 1969. This system was classified based on body organization, cell structure, mode of nutrition, and reproduction. This classification has helped to categorize the organisms together which were placed in different kingdoms in earlier classification. All the unicellular eukaryotic organisms have been placed under the kingdom Protista and prokaryotic organisms are grouped under Monera.
